• Lead the negotiation of EPC, O&M and other relevant contracts per company standards from vendor identification through to execution
• Work proactively and collaboratively within and across Japan office functions to facilitate project financing as well as on-time, on budget, and high quality engineering and construction
• Understand Japanese laws and regulations, and coordinate as required with legal counsel 
• Maintain good working relationships with partners throughout the life of executed contracts
• Retain project-related documentation in an organised manner per company procedures
• Conduct regular benchmarking of the local market and report on the results

The successful candidate will also manage specific projects, leading all activities from development to commercial operation. Additional responsibilities for this role include:

• Manage and support the permitting and approval process for assigned projects
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders (includes landowners, associations, government officers, and others)
• Monitor and manage contractual obligations throughout their performance requirements
• Manage engineering deliverables from contractors and prioritize areas for further review
• Supervise project engineering, procurement and construction status and progress as well as provide regular update reports to company management and others as required
• Coordinate all required field-testing and commissioning protocols
• Approve contractor requests for payments, schedule updates, and contract changes
• Review and approve contractor documentation for the completed plant 


• Degree in engineering, project management, construction management, or equivalent
• Multiple years of professional experience in commercial negotiation and project management
• Native Japanese with ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal English
• Well organized and with high attention to detail
• Multinational experience and good relationship builder
• Strong proficiency in MS Word and Powerpoint as well as solid presentation skills
• Able to manage, control and deliver against multiple projects and work requests and changing deadlines in an entrepreneurial environment

• Familiarity with green technology
• Professional experience in the power or construction sectors
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or Microsoft Project
• Willingness to travel (2 business trips per year, within Japan)
