Responsibilities

– Lead and develop the Japan Finance Team: Manage a team of four covering accounting and FP&A, providing guidance and fostering professional growth.
– Finance Business Partnering: Collaborate closely with the country leadership to support business planning, budgeting, and operational decision-making.
– Financial Planning & Reporting: Oversee the preparation of forecasts, budgets, and monthly management reports, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
– Compliance & Controls: Maintain compliance with relevant accounting, tax, and regulatory requirements while ensuring strong internal controls.
– Process Improvement: Continuously enhance financial processes and reporting to improve accuracy, efficiency, and actionable insights.
– Cross-functional Support: Contribute to business initiatives and operational decisions as a key member of the local management team.

Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; professional accounting qualification (CA/CPA) preferred
– 7–10 years of experience in financial accounting, preferably in a large multinational company
– Experience as a finance leader supporting commercial operations in Japan
– Strong knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS
– Proven experience leading a finance or accounting team
– Solid understanding of tax, financial controls, and financial analysis
– Familiarity with local accounting and regulatory requirements in Japan
– Highly organized, proactive, and able to communicate and collaborate effectively
– Results-oriented with a commitment to deadlines
