Responsibilities

We’re looking for an experienced HR & General Affairs Manager to take full ownership of people operations in Japan. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys balancing strategic HR with hands-on office management.

What you’ll do:
– Lead HR and General Affairs operations across Japan
– Partner with leadership on workforce planning and organizational development
– Manage employee relations, including performance issues and conflict resolution
– Drive hiring and retention in partnership with Talent Acquisition
– Ensure compliance with labor laws, HR policies, and data protection
– Oversee compensation, benefits, and employee engagement initiatives
– Manage office operations, facilities, vendors, and workplace environment
– Maintain compliance, risk management, and corporate documentation

Qualifications

– Bachelor’s degree or higher
– 8+ years of HR experience, including exposure to international HR
– Background in at least one HR specialty (e.g. business partnering, L&D, compensation, or benefits)
– Fluent in Japanese and English
– Strong knowledge of Japanese labor law, payroll, and basic finance concepts
– Confident communicator with the ability to influence and build trust across stakeholders
– Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills

– Experience in healthcare-related industries (Life Sciences, Medical Devices, Pharma) preferred
– Prior experience leading HR or General Affairs teams is a plus
