Responsibilities

Carrier & Vendor Relationships
– Build and maintain relationships with major shipping lines and co-loaders, including identifying alternative options beyond the primary carriers
– Track and manage carrier performance, coordinating local review meetings and consolidating feedback for regional reporting
– Investigate service issues or carrier errors, define corrective actions, and work jointly with carriers to drive performance improvement
– Act as the local point of contact for carrier-related operational escalations

Freight Strategy
– Roll out regional carrier/co-loader strategy locally and monitor ongoing compliance
– Set performance targets with carriers and build sustainable, deep local partnerships
– Align commercial and procurement strategy with the local sales lead and regional procurement counterparts
– Manage local capacity allocation in coordination with the regional team to ensure service reliability
– Forecast seasonal demand fluctuations for full-container-load volumes

Rate & Contract Management
– Lead rate negotiations, tender responses, and contract drafting for large accounts and major deals
– Quickly secure competitive pricing for spot business or rates that fall outside standard agreements
– Own local freight/rate administration, including tracking, surcharges, and customs-related charges
– Ensure the competitiveness of LCL rates in the local market through ongoing research and analysis, escalating to regional product owners as needed

Qualifications

– Experience directly negotiating with ocean or air carriers (preferred), OR procurement/operations experience at another freight forwarder in ocean or air freight
– Comfortable working cross-functionally with regional and local commercial teams
