Responsibilities

This role will work closely with the President and senior management to develop and execute strategic plans that drive growth in the Japan market.

– Create annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and monthly forecasts.
– Prepare monthly variance analyses against prior year and forecast.
– Partner with the President to improve financial performance.
– Provide financial analyses requested by the Asia Pacific headquarters.
– Oversee the monthly closing process.
– Report monthly financial results under US GAAP to the Asia Pacific Controller.
– Maintain statutory financial statements and support external audits.
– Recommend and implement process improvements to strengthen financial controls.
– Produce monthly financial reports for local management and APAC.
– Ensure adherence to company rules, finance policies, accounting standards, and relevant laws.
– Manage and test internal controls to ensure SOX-404 compliance.
– Promote a positive corporate culture and drive company-wide improvement initiatives.
– Train and develop team members.
– Improve operational efficiency through continuous improvement activities.

Qualifications

– University degree or equivalent experience
– Experience in finance, accounting, treasury, and management within international companies
– Experience supporting corporate-level management
– Background in an American multinational company is a plus
– Native-level Japanese and fluent English (spoken and written)
– Strong knowledge of JGAAP and US GAAP
– Understanding of Japanese commercial law, accounting principles, corporate tax, and J‑SOX compliance
– Proficient in Microsoft Office
